Because of how popular Maine is with lovers of the outdoors, there are plenty of options for spots to go camping, for some people, too many options to choose from. So, because of this, we have narrowed down the list of camping locations in Maine to just our favorites.

This means you can pick whichever you want to visit most from our curated list and not have to worry about any of them not having what you need.

So, if you are planning to go camping in Maine some time soon, but you have no idea where you want to go camping, then this list will have all the options you need to choose from!

On The Saco Family Campground

This is one of our favorite camping sites in Maine and you can find it in Brownfield. This spot has 1700 feet of Saco River frontage. This spot is perfect if you plan to go camping or stay in an RV, so there is something here for every type of camping.

The tent spots are also riverfront which makes for some amazing sights while you are camping. You can also rent out specific spots for as long as you want with the option to have them for a season, a month, or just on a weekly or nightly basis.

This spot also has some great amenities available, for example, there are showers and well stocked bathrooms, on top of a great laundry facility, a game room, a playground, Wi-Fi access available, a field area used for recreation activities, and the group sites which they have are also fully pet friendly!

There are also some super fun activities to try here like canoeing, kayaking, as well as tube rentals for the river. There is also a shuttle service available which is part of what makes staying here so convenient.

Wild Duck Adult Campground & RV Park

There are 70 sites available at this spot which you can find in Scarborough, but it is worth noting that this is not a child friendly spot, and to camp here you will need to be over 21.

This camping spot is designed to be the perfect peaceful getaway for retirees and honeymooners and it is found just on the southern coastline of the state. This is found by one of the bigger saltwater marshes in the state and because of this the wildlife you can see here is amazing.

You will likely see waterfowls, herons, egrets, ibises, mink, otter, muskrat, deer, or moose depending on the season you decide to visit.

You can choose to explore the marsh here by foot if you want to be adventurous, or you can also travel through it by canoe if you want to try something different.

If you want to do this, you can bring your own kayak or canoe if you have one, but they also have a rental service available, but if you are visiting in peak season you might want to book ahead. There is also a beach which is just a short bike ride away.

The RV sites which they have available all have the full choice of hook ups which are needed, and you get cable at all the sites available. The restrooms at this park are super clean and modern with all the amenities you will need.

There is also wireless internet access, as well as a grocery store, a dump station, and even access to firewood and ice.

Hadley’s Point Campground

This camping spot is found in Bar Harbor and it is at the northernmost point in Mt Desert Island. This is one of the best spots to visit in the state if you are a camper, with some stunning scenery and some useful amenities available too.

This is also very close to the Acadia National Park as well as the downtown area of Bar Harbor. The campground is super quiet but also the perfect choice for families as well. You can relax in the pines, but also on the coast if you want a change of pace.

Our favorite thing about this campsite is just how many options they lend to those who choose to camp there. For example, you can choose to do a more primitive tent style camping if you want something for a more experienced camper.

But if you do not want to worry about potentially struggling, then you can go for a campsite which has water and electricity available. There are also spots available for RVs which have all the hookups which you would need.

There are even some amazing cabins available which have everything you could ever want, whether this is access to AC or heating, as well as your own bathroom, access to Wi-Fi, and even more. If you want a stunning getaway in Maine, then this is one of the best options which is available.
