1. Wilmington KOA
Open year-round, Wilmington KOA offers comfortable and convenient camping just a short distance from the beaches of downtown Wilmington.
Wrightsville Beach is right on the doorstep of the camping site, while Carolina Beach is just 30 minutes away.
Perfect if you want to soak up the sunshine and sea views! And with Wilmington itself around the corner, there are plenty of conveniences to make your trip even more enjoyable.
Wilmington KOA offers plenty of amenities and options for campers. Choose from an RV site, tent sites, lodging, and even extended stays.
With Wi-Fi, a camping kitchen, and a pool during the summer months, Wilmington KOA is a welcoming spot to bring the kids. This pet-friendly site also has group camping options, so everyone has a chance to discover Wilmington!
2. Winner’s RV Park
It’s just 15 miles south of Wilmington and within walking distance of the beach. With full hook-ups available for RVs, Winner’s park does all it can to accommodate your needs.
The central location is excellent for visiting the beach, fishing, and discovering the local nightlife.
If you love to spend your days on the water, we recommend making an early reservation to secure your spot in this fishermen-friendly destination.
Winner’s RV Park is a small site with 21 spaces, so if you want to visit during a holiday weekend, book well in advance.
3. Carolina Beach State Park
If you want to stay on the site, reservations are required, and early booking is recommended. Be aware that different sites offer different amenities, so be aware of what you’re booking when you make the reservation.
Located in the state park, the Carolina Beach campground is perfect for adventurous types who like to explore the outdoors. There are exciting hiking trails nearby, as well as easy access to an on-site beach.
4. Freeman Park
If you’re interested in cruising along the beach, the best time to visit is winter, when you’ll have most of the sand to yourself. For everyone else, take a trip in summer, when you can enjoy surfing, fishing, and sunbathing.
If you want to camp in Freeman Park, then you will need to make a reservation. Reservation dates are limited (generally from Labor day to Memorial day), and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Freeman Park operates on a pack it in, pack it out policy, so once you’re done tearing up the sand, make sure to take everything with you.
5. Snow’s Cut RV Retreat
The large lots are perfect for RVs, with plenty of space for you to get comfortable in between trips to the beach.
As a newer campground, Snow’s Cut comes with excellent amenities. Guests have access to a restroom, shower, and laundry, plus free Wi-Fi and coin-operated laundry supplies.
There are 30- and 50-amp sites available, and the lot has power and central water/sewer. If you want to make the most of your time in North Carolina, Snow’s Cut also offers extended stays.
6. Woodside RV & Trailer Park
A family-friendly site, the campgrounds primarily consist of 16’-wide slabs with minimal on-site amenities. There’s no camping, but if you have an RV, you should be comfortably accommodated.
Nearby Southport offers visitors a chance to discover the history of North Carolina. Wander down the streets to take in unique old homes, or stop in one of the antique stores to pick up a souvenir. And let’s not forget the beaches. The ocean is just a quick drive away, or you can visit the waterfront park in Southport.
7. Oak Island Campground
The picturesque location is family-friendly and pet-friendly, and there’s space for tents and RV campers.
With both 30- and 50-amp sites available, as well as water, sewer, and electricity hookups, the Oak Island Campground is a fantastic base for a family vacation.
The beaches of Oak Island are within 1 mile of the campground, while the historic town of Southport is just 3 miles away. Wilmington itself is roughly 25 miles to the north, making it great for day trips.
For a chilled-out vacation away from the busiest parts of North Carolina, Oak Island Campground is perfect.
8. Ocean Breeze Family Campground
It’s located in the town of Supply, which is just to the south of Wilmington and just to the north of Myrtle Beach! Sandwiched between the two iconic locations, you have plenty of places to visit during your stay.
Ocean Breeze Family campground is a larger site, with 134 lots available. There are 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electrical hookups available on every lot, plus high-definition digital cable.
The laundry room and bath house are both open 24/7 for your convenience, and Holden Beach is just 1 mile away. And if that sounds too far for a quick dip, there’s also a pool on site!
9. Holden Beach RV & Campground
Just 2 miles from the ocean, Holden Beach Campground offers sites for both tents and RVs, tucked away in private wooded grounds. There’s full hookup for all the RV sites, plus a laundry room, dump station, and general store.
Kids will love the playground and on-site pool, while adults can take advantage of the trolley beach shuttle to leave the RV behind for the day.
10. Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area
With easy beach access, shallow draft boat launch, recreation center, and fishing pier, Fort Fisher is perfect for those who like to pack their vacations with activities.
Fort Fisher is only available for military personnel — this includes active-duty, reservists, and military family members.
If you are a member of an eligible group, Fort Fisher offers low rates for the area and exceptional conveniences. As well as RV sites, Fort Fisher is also home to cottages suitable for couples and families.
11. The Inlet At Lanier Pointe
This is an excellent site for anyone who loves to be close to the water, as the campground comes with a community pier and a private boat launch! Prefer to relax on-site? The Inlet is also home to a clubhouse and pool.
From the Inlet at Lanier Pointe, guests have easy access to the top attractions of the North Carolina coastline.
After a busy day exploring, return home to the bath house and laundry facilities, as well as a camp store for all your general needs. The Inlet also offers long-term stays, for a chance to really get away from it all.
