1. Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park 

Not just fun in name but also an excellent park for families who want to get away for the weekend or vacation here, as there are plenty of ways you can see the whole park, from pedal carts to saddle boats; you have so many options while camping here.

You can attend events hosted by the park, which can be great for gaining some insights into the garden and surrounding wildlife, or you could go and plan activities of your own, from fishing, and basketball, to swimming, so you’ll never be bored here. 

2. Charlestown State Park 

If you want to go camping with an emphasis on hiking, this park is a great place as you can find some interesting structures and monuments that document the exciting history of the park that may take you down many different paths.

You also get an easy access campsite, and you can choose from electricity-only lots close to water and shower facilities. You can enjoy over 70 species of birds and even a turtle or two while roaming around. 

3. Turkey Run State Park 

This expansive park has 213 campsites and even rental cabins, so you have good options, and with this out of the way, there are activities here that everyone can enjoy, so you could go to the nature center, go on the various hiking trails, and so much more.

You could even go kayaking or canoeing through sugar creek, and you can even arrange trips where you could sit back and enjoy the diverse scenery, and if this doesn’t interest you, there are many other areas where you could make your own fun. 

4. Dunewood Campground 

You can find a good amount of space reserved for camping spots, but the ones on the outside loop are quieter and have some unique views, especially lake Michigan, which is close and promises some spectacular views.

You’re also close to Michigan city, so you can go here if you forget any supplies and is a good choice for those who may want a break from the park, but with so many trails, wildlife, and wonders to explore, you’ll never be without things to do at Dunewood. 

5. Hidden Lake Paradise Campground 

This campsite is ideal for those who want a simple retreat out into the country but don’t want to be too far from local amenities, as you’re within close range of Plymouth, so you can get supplies here or go for a wander around.

You also have a nearby pond that is great for fishing and is excellent if you want to go from the beaten path and do some of your own explorations, and the best thing is, you’ll find it’s very peaceful here and can be a place for families to relax.

6. Brown County Skate Park 

This park is located in the center of the southern part of the state, with fantastic walkways and views of the surrounding park that seems to go on forever, and here you can really get in touch with nature, as you can see a good amount of wildlife here.

You also have some exciting landmarks such as Abe Martin lodge, Hohen point, hesitation point, and two different lakes you can walk right by. With all this, plus good facilities and friendly staff, this is a place you may want to make annual trips to. 

7. Potato Creek Skate Park 

Here is another skate park that promises excellent views where you can see a mix of different colors and structures, with swamp areas that may spark some of your curiosity. You can appreciate the open but cozy camping spots if you want something simple.

You can go to Worster lake, hike up Vargo hill, and even has a local cemetery, which can give you some insights into African American settlers, which can be an excellent opportunity to expand your horizons and reflect for a little while. 

8. Hardy Lake 

If you’d instead do some lakeside camping, here is a great spot, which is all parts relaxing while being the center of a lively and fun atmosphere where you can meet many people of all types, which can make any camping trip much more pleasant.

On the other side of the lake, you can find a recreation area, which may be a bit of a distance away, but it’s worth it for the lake view and the various things you could do in an opan area with picnic tables and swimming spots, which is even better in the summer. 

9. Indianapolis KOA Holiday

This spot is settled in the heart of the state, so it is a good place to stop by if you’re looking to explore more of the state or if you’re a local and are looking for a break, and if so, you can find a well-maintained campsite with plenty of space for you to kick back in.

Across the bridge, you can find the RV spots, which are just as spacious, so with this, as well as a campsite and plenty of amenities, you have the perfect site.
